Josh Thole called up by Mets

Backup Mets catcher Henry Blanco was placed on the bereavement list before tonight's game against Washington because of an illness in his family. The Mets called up C Josh Thole from Buffalo to take Blanco's place.

In 21 games with the Bisons, Thole is batting only .203 with 10 RBI, but over the past 10 games, his batting average is .286.
