Just call him Wally Binghamton
He could not get the big league job with the Mets, but Wally Backman is remaining in the organization as manager of Double-A Binghamton.
Backman spent last season managing the Class-A Brooklyn Cyclones. They went 51-24 and made it to the New York-Penn League Championship Series.
Backman, 51, interviewed for the Mets but they wanted someone with Major League experience and hired Terry Collins.
