Justin Turner, whom Collins feels is showing signs of fatigue, was given the night off as Lucas Duda started at first with Daniel Murphy at third. Turner hit .195 (8-for-41) in the previous 10 games.

Tim Byrdak was expected to leave the team after last night’s game because of a death in the family. The Mets were not sure how long he would be away; if it’s three days or more, they could replace him on the roster.

After the game, the Mets recalled pitcher D.J. Carrasco and optioned Dale Thayer to Triple-A Buffalo.
