The New York Mets’ Brooklyn farm team is getting some extra credit.
The Cyclones’ Keyspan Park near the Coney Island boardwalk is being renamed MCU Park under an 11-year agreement announced Thursday with Municipal Credit Union.
Last week, the Class A team agreed to end its naming rights deal with National Grid PLC, which owns and operates Britain’s power grid. That company acquired KeySpan Energy Corp., the parent of Brooklyn Union Gas Co., in 2007.
The ballpark near the Coney Island boardwalk had been called KeySpan since it opened in 2001, and the naming rights deal was to have run through 2020.
