Maine "not well." To be re-evaluated Monday
No surprise here. The day after Jerry Manuel said he had no room for John Maine on his pitching staff, the manager said this morning that Maine "did not feel particularly well" after Friday's rehab start and will be re-evalauted Monday.
Maine has been on the DL since May 21 with shoulder weakness, but the Mets did not provide any further details on what might be bothering him. Given Maine's puzzling medical history, and his frustrating performance this season, it would not be a stretch to say he may have thrown his last pitch for Manuel, as we talked about in today's story.
