Manuel on Reyes oblique strain, Niese's meltdown and Tejada's close play
Jose Reyes was taken out after straining his right oblique on a single in the second inning.
Manuel called the injury a "day-to-day thing" and guessed his swing is what strained the oblique.
"I don't know if he's been - which no one is - 100 percent and today he might have aggravated [the oblique] to a point where it was bothersome for him," Manuel said.
On Niese's meltdown in the sixth inning: "I thought he still had good stuff. He probably wasn't attacking the strike zone as he was earlier ... I guess the lesson to be learned is you've got to stay in that attach mode."
The Mets had a chance to break things open in the third with the bases loaded, but the inning ended with a close groundout by Tejada. "A lot of things were hinging on that particular play," a downtrodden Manuel said at the end of his press conference.
