The first time Jason Isringhausen joined the Mets, it was as part of Generation K. When he arrives Monday, having been called up from an extended spring training stint in Port St. Lucie, the fanfare will have far fewer trumpets but he'll again be part of a catchy name.

Isringhausen and Ryota Igarashi were added to the roster yesterday, prompting GM Sandy Alderson to dub Monday"The Iggy and Izzy Show."

To make room, the Mets designated Blaine Boyer (0-2, 10.80 ERA) for assignment and optioned outfielder Lucas Duda to Triple-A Buffalo. "It's unfortunate," Boyer said, "but I've been in this position before and I'll be all right."

The moves give the Mets 13 pitchers, a situation Alderson said he'll likely live with until Jason Bay is ready to come off the disabled list with a left rib-cage strain. "Right now, we need some innings," he said. "Based on [Sunday], we were short coming in and we're shorter now."

Isringhausen is coming back from a series of arm injuries. Igarashi pitched twice for Triple-A Buffalo and earned a save Sunday, but Alderson said he'll be available to pitch Monday.

As for Bay, he took live batting practice Sunday for the first time since his injury. Alderson said Bay could be back for the weekend series in Atlanta.

Paulino to DL

Ronny Paulino finished the eight games remaining on his 50-day suspension for performance-enhancing drugs Saturday and was put on the 15-day DL while he recovers from anemia. He is expected to play three or four games of extended spring training in Port St. Lucie before beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo.
