Mets don't have much experience against Mat Latos
Mat Latos, the 22-year-old Padres pitcher, is emerging as their ace, perhaps for years to come. He is 5-4 with a 3.26 ERA and remarkable 1.06 WHIP, so the Mets better take advantage of every time they get a baserunner if they want to win this game.
Only four Mets have faced Latos. Alex Cora is 2-for-3 with a home run, which is probably why he's in the lineup. He figured to play one of the two games, so might as well play him against the guy who he's homered against. Meanwhile, David Wright and Angel Pagan are both 0-for-3 against Latos while Fernando Tatis is 0-for-2 and Jeff Francoeur is 1-for-2 with a walk. Yes, a walk.
