Mets farm report
The Mets refused to trade two of their top prospects in any deadline deals, and now there's a good chance both will join the major-league club when rosters expand next month.
Righthander Jenrry Mejia, who wound up on the DL after his June 20 demotion, was promoted to Double-A Binghamton Thursday. In his last appearance for Class A St. Lucie, Mejia, 20, allowed one hit in four scoreless innings and struck out seven.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who appears to have leaped past Fernando Martinez as the Mets' top outfield prospect, was promoted to Triple-A Buffalo Thursday. Nieuwenhuis batted .289 with 35 doubles, 16 homers and 60 RBIs in 94 games for Binghamton.
