Mets likely to host 2013 All-Star Game

PHOENIX -- Since 2007, it has been common knowledge within the baseball world that the Mets will host the 2013 All-Star Game. It just hasn't been made official yet.
The official announcement is drawing close. It has to. The game is now two years away.
Asked Tuesday about the Mets' chances to host the 2013 Midsummer Classic, baseball commissioner Bud Selig smiled at a meeting of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
"We'll announce it at some point in the world," Selig said. "I'll say their chances look pretty good."
Next year's All-Star Game will take place at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Following the New York stop in 2013, the 2014 game is expected to be at Target Field in Minneapolis. Future host candidates after that include Nationals Park in Washington, the new Marlins stadium (set to open next year) in Miami, Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati and Petco Park in San Diego.
The new Yankee Stadium has yet to host the game. Because the old Yankee Stadium closed with the 2008 event, the Yankees will have to wait for a few years.
