It was New York Nicks day on Wednesday as Nick Swisher won the game for the Yankees and Nick Evans helped the Mets beat the Nationals.

Evans broke a 2-2 tie with a pinch-hit double in the seventh inning that scored the go-ahead run in a 3-2 victory. R.A. Dickey got the win.

It was a nice moment for Evans, who apparently no longer fits into the Mets' big league plans. He was a good  looking prospect two springs ago and became the last player cut  before the team broke camp. He went 7-for-75 at Triple-A Buffalo and was assigned to extended spring training, where he met with a sports psychologist.

This season, Evans played for Double-A Binghamton and Buffalo and hit a combined .300 with 23 homers and 80 runs batted in.
