The Mets will host either the Giants or the Cardinals in the National League wild-card game Wednesday night. The Giants enter the final day of the regular season at 86-75, one game ahead of the Cardinals (85-76). The Giants can clinch a trip to New York with a win over the Dodgers or a St. Louis loss. To force a play-in game against the Giants tomorrow in St. Louis, the Cardinals must beat the Pirates and need the Giants to lose to the Dodgers. That scenario would benefit the Mets.
