No no-hitters for 48 years, but who's counting?
The Mets have played 7,708 games without any of their pitchers throwing a no-hitter. Make that 48 years, two months and five days in real time.
Jonathon Niese (3-2, 3.61), who pitched a one-hitter against the Padres in his last start, will try to end that drought tonight when he faces Mitch Talbot (7-4, 3.59) in Cleveland.
Since the odds are obvioulsy stacked against Mets pitchers in the no-no category, Niese and the team certainly would settle for a fifth straight victory on the road.
