Oliver Perez: Winter of discontent
Pitching in the Mexican League, Oliver Perez isn't having much success in winter ball. He has appeared in 11 games and is 3-3 with a 5.18 ERA. He has allowed five home runs and issued 23 in 33 innings for Tomateros de Culiacan.
Perez, armed with a guaranteed $12 million contract, will head to Major League spring training next month, where the Mets are expected to look at him as a reliever.
If Perez fails, the team will have to eat his contract by releasing him or paying most of the money due if they can find a team willing to take him.
