Perez gives up three runs in first inning
In what is likely his last start (if not appearance) with the Mets, Oliver Perez gave up three runs in the first inning of a split-squad game with the Astros.
Michael Bourn singled and Clint Barmes walked to start the first. Hunter Pence singled in Bourn. Carlos Lee then doubled in two more runs.
Perez gave up four hits and walked two in three innings.
Mets manager Terry Collins has said he would look at Perez as a reliever, but, as David Lennon has been telling us, the lefthander's days with the Mets are numbered.
As you know, Perez is owed $12 million.
