Reyes back on field, Maine pitches today vs. Cards in Jupiter
Jose Reyes gave a thumbs up this morning as he pulled on his socks in preparation for Day 2 of his comeback from a hyperactive thyroid.
"Everything's good," Reyes said.
Today's plan is for Reyes to repeat his Day 1 workload of hitting, fielding, and agility drills. But the Mets still refuse to look too far ahead as far as when he might play in a Grapefruit League game.
John Maine starts today against the Cardinals and the Mets could use a decent performance from him as a confidence builder heading into the season. Maine, the No. 4 starter, has really been a wild card so far.
Mike Jacobs gets the start at first base today, but Daniel Murphy helped his grip on the position with two hits and a two-run homer yesterday.
Today's lineup:
Valdespin - 2b
Tejada - ss
Matthews - cf
Jacobs - 1b
Tatis - 3b
Catalanotto - lf
Blanco - c
Martinez - rf
Maine - sp
