Jose Reyes began his rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Binghamton and had a relatively uneventful night, which in his case, might be a good thing. Reyes went 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in five innings at shortstop, where he did not have a fielding chance.

The plan was for Reyes to have an abbreviated stint in his first game, then play two more with the B-Mets Friday and Saturday -- weather permitting. Reyes is scheduled to take Sunday off before rejoining the Mets for Monday's doubleheader against the Marlins at Citi Field.

Terry Collins said this week that Reyes will play in only one of Monday's two games. He has been on the disabled list since Aug. 8 with his second strain of his left hamstring in a month.
