Ryota Igarashi called up
With Francisco Rodriguez serving a two-game suspension issued by the Mets, the team recalled Ryota Igarashi Thursday.
Igarashi believes he can help out the Mets' bullpen. In four August appearances with Buffalo, Igarashi struck out four batters, walked two and did not allow a run in 4 2/3 innings.
"The splitter's back," Igarashi told an MLB.com reporter. "And also I realized when I went there that I had to develop another off-speed pitch. I worked on the curveball, and now it's in good form."
The Mets also activated RHP Sean Green from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Buffalo (IL).
