Johan Santana’s next start is likely to be Wednesday for Class A St. Lucie. Collins said he’ll probably throw an additional 10 or 15 pitches, which would bump his count to about 45.
With Friday’s 8-5 win, the Mets had scored at least eight runs in four straight road games, their second such streak of the season. According to Elias, in the past 50 years, only three other teams have accomplished the feat: the 1993 Braves, the 2001 Indians and the 2003 Yankees.
