Santana OK after playing catch, decide tomorrow on Tuesday
Johan Santana reported no problems this morning after playing catch/long toss for 10 minutes under the supervision of pitching coach Dan Warthen. The next step will be a bullpen session tomorrow, and if Santana passes that test, he should be ready to make his scheduled start on Tuesday in Washington.
"Playing catch I don't feel anything, so we'll see how it feels tomorrow," Santana said. "I'm supposed to get on the mound and see how it feels."
When asked if tomorrow's workout will determine his status for Tuesday, Santana replied, "I would think so. I've got to go one day at a time, but we'll see how it feels tomorrow. That will determine what happens next."
Santana was forced to leave Thursday's game with a strained left pectoral muscle after five innings and only 65 pitches, initially put his next start in doubt.
