Much to the frustration of the people who bring you local coverage of Yankees and Mets games throughout the regular season, Major League Baseball's television contract shuts them out of postseason games.

But SNY and YES plan to provide as extensive coverage as they are permitted during the postseason.

YES will offer pregame coverage of the American League wild-card game Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m., with David Cone, Michael Kay and reporter Meredith Marakovits at the Stadium and Bob Lorenz, Jack Curry and John Flaherty in the network's studio.

The game itself will be on ESPN, with the Sunday night team of Dan Shulman, John Kruk and Jessica Mendoza in the booth. Mendoza will be the first female analyst to work a major-league postseason game on national TV.

SNY plans a live, nightly show covering the Mets throughout the playoffs, with Gary Apple and Doug Williams hosting backed by analysts Nelson Figueroa and Jim Duquette.

For home playoff games, SNY's coverage will emanate from outside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda at Citi Field.

The game announcing team of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling also will participate.

Hernandez will appear from SNY's Manhattan studios and Cohen will be on-site for home games in Queens. Darling will appear from Citi Field for home playoff games, pending his duties as a game analyst for Turner's coverage of the games.
