Statement weekend for Mets
The inferiority complex that follows the Mets—you know, are they really for real—gets the ultimate test with a three-game series at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees looked bad in losing two of three to the Phillies, while the Mets looked unbeatable in back-to-back three game sweeps of Houston and Cleveland.
Now they play a good, maybe even great team in the Yankees. And in Yankee Stadium, where their 23-8 record is even better than the Mets’ domination (24-10) at Citi Field.
The Mets don’t need a sweep, that would be asking way too much. But two of three delivers a strong message, not so much to the Yankees, but themselves.
