Steven Matz settles down with three strikeouts in one inning

Ward Melville product Steven Matz struck out the side in his only inning for the Mets in Friday's 5-5 tie with the Cardinals.
Matz, who is ticketed for Class A St. Lucie, allowed a hit and a walk to the first two batters he faced. He then struck out Xavier Scruggs, Scott Moore and Randal Grichuk.
Long Beach product John Lannan allowed two runs (one earned) in two innings.
