Terry Collins named coach for NL All-Star team for second straight year

For the second straight year, Mets manager Terry Collins will serve on the National League coaching staff for the All-Star Game, this time at Citi Field.
"I realize it's in New York and that's probably why they asked me to do it," Collins said. "It's an honor. It's a blast. I had a great time last year."
In Kansas City last season, Collins served as a coach under manager Tony La Russa.
Gee gets some help
With Dillon Gee battling flexor tendinitis in his right elbow, Collins said the Mets likely will use a six-man rotation once Zack Wheeler is added for Tuesday's doubleheader in Atlanta.
Collins wants to use the alignment to create extra time between starts, particularly for Gee, who has pitched with the condition the entire season.
Atchison getting closer
Scott Atchison is nearing a return to the bullpen. Atchison pitched a perfect inning for Double-A Binghamton in a minor league rehab assignment on Monday night.
The Mets want him to pitch on consecutive days without an issue before taking him off the disabled list, where he has been since May 14 with right elbow inflammation.
D'Arnaud to be examined
Catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud said via Twitter that he will be examined by doctors in New York on Monday. He recently removed the walking boot that had been protecting the fractured toe in his left foot.
Reliever promoted
The Mets promoted lefty reliever Jack Leathersich from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Las Vegas. He was 2-0 with three saves and a 1.53 ERA in 24 appearances, racking up 55 strikeouts in 291/3 innings. His fastball has been clocked in the 94-97 mph range . . . Rick Ankiel elected free agency after he was designated for assignment.
