Teufel to manage Buffalo; Wally to Binghamton?
Tim Teufel, mentioned briefly as a managerial candidate for the Mets, will stay with the organization and manage Triple-A Buffalo.
That likely means Wally Backman will assume Teufel's former job of managing Double-A Binghamton. Backman was considered a serious candidate for the big league team. He spent last summer with Class-A Brooklyn.
Teufel, 52, was 66-76 at Binghamton last season. Former big leaguer Mike Easler will be his hitting coach.
