Mazzilli homers from
both sides
Lee Mazzilli became the first Mets player to hit a homer from both sides of the plate in a game. He homered off Tommy John in the first inning and Charlie Hough in the seventh inning of the Mets 8-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodgers Stadium. Entering this season, the feat has been accomplished 18 times by eight different players in franchise history: Mazzilli, Todd Hundley (five times), Bobby Bonilla (four times), Carlos Beltran (three times), Jose Reyes (twice), Howard Johnson, Carl Everett and Tony Clark.
