Thole recalled
Josh Thole was recalled from Buffalo (AAA) for catching depth. The move seems to be motivated by Rod Barajas' stiff back. This gives the Mets some flexibility in case they need to remove Henry Blanco and Barajas' back hasn't eased out. Take it from somebody who had back surgery eight years ago, when it tightens up, it usually remains that way for awhile.
LHP Raul Valdes (2-2, 5.10 ERA) was optioned to Buffallo to clear space on the 25-man roster.
