PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Back when he was a football player, Mets outfield prospect Tim Tebow was known for kneeling in prayer on the football field. It was called Tebowing.

On Tuesday, Tebow was asked his opinion of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling during the national anthem in protest.

After first saying he didn’t want to comment, Tebow said: “When people have a belief in something, or a conviction in something, trying to stand for that is a good thing. It’s all about standing for it the right way.”

Tebow is at the Mets’ spring training facility trying to become a major-league player.
