Wright, Beltran flop on road trip

The Mets were able to get nine hits on Sunday off the Phillies Roy Halladay in a 6-5 loss. But none of them came from the David Wright-Carlos Beltran tandem in the middle of the lineup. Each went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts to cap an awful six-game road trip against the first-place Braves and second-place Phillies.

Angel Pagan and Ike Davis drove in runs in the first inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead over the Phillies Sunday. Pagan added another RBI in the sixth and even the young players played a part. Ruben Tejada didn't get a hit, but he did drive in a run with a groundout, no small feal for this team.

Josh Thole went 3-for-4 and Fernando Martinez had a key hit and a run in a two-run seventh that made it a one-run game. But Wright and Beltran couldn't come through.

Wight and Beltran combined to hit .111 (5-for-45) on the trip with 14 strikeouts. Wright went 2-for-23 and Beltran was 3-for-22.
