Joe Girardi of Alex Rodriguez after tonight's loss: “We might need to give him a couple days off."

Reading the body language of those involved tonight suggested that could be a best-case scenario.

Rodriguez made clear he's not feeling any pain in his groin but is "confused" over the cramping and tightness he's felt there since Sunday in Toronto.

“For the last two days it’s felt exactly the same,’’ Rodriguez said of the groin, “and once I get warm it gets going. Today it just cramped up. I just couldn’t get it quite loosened up.’’

He said he'll meet with Dr. Christopher Ahmad tomorrow at the Stadium and will also talk to Dr. Marc Philippon, who performed surgery on his hip last year.

A-Rod said "the hip" is fine, but also wasn't about to guess that his current condition is unrelated.

"I'm not a doctor," he said.

Rodriguez said he's not worried yet but said,"It’s frustrating because there’s no pain but yet these cramps. We just have to figure them out."

The Yankees start a three-game series tomorrow night at the Stadium as Andy Pettitte (7-1, 2.47) takes on Brett Myers (4-3, 3.01).
