About that home field advantage
Everyone watching Texas beat the Rays this afternoon is already thinking ahead to the ALCS and a showdown with the Yankees.
First of all, hold on. Let's make it through Game 1 of the ALDS against the Twins.
Secondly, there's no home field advantage at stake for the Yanks. That ship has sailed.
Contrary to what you may hear, the wild card Yankees do NOT regain home field if they play the Rangers in the ALCS. True, the Yankees had a better regular season record (95-67) than AL West champ Texas (90-72), but the WC is never awarded home field.
You have to get something out of finishing first in your division.
