Alex Rodriguez will sit out Tuesday night's game against the Blue Jays because of a sore oblique. It's the second consecutive game Rodriguez will miss because of the injury.

The Yankees third baseman originally injured his left side Saturday in the seventh inning of a win against the Rangers. Eric Chavez is slated to make the start in his place.

According to Erik Boland's Twitter feed, Rodriguez felt like he could have played tonight, but expects to return Wednesday.

“Maybe if it was September, in the middle of a pennant race, perhaps I could have strapped it on today,” Rodriguez said. “But considering where we are in the schedule, why not take that extra day?”
