Are the Yankees serious about Lance Berkman?
You can expect the Yankees to make some sort of move, either to strengthen the bench or bullpen. Perhaps both.
It looks like Houston's Lance Berkman might be a possibility. Sure, he's 34, has been injured and isn't having a very good season. But he could help out at DH and give Mark Teixeira at day off at first base every once in a while.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post was the first to report this, via Twitter.

Newsday's Ken Davidoff reports via Twitter:
Source confirms Yankees "moving in the right direction" for Berkman. Given Cashman's MO, assuming it's essentially a money dump.
Second source says Yankees "likely" to get Berkman.
Astros indeed expected to get non-prospect minor-leaguer(s) and payroll relief from Yankees in return for Berkman.
