You can expect the Yankees to make some sort of move, either to strengthen the bench or bullpen. Perhaps both.

It looks like Houston's Lance Berkman might be a possibility. Sure, he's 34, has been injured and isn't having a very good season. But he could help out at DH and give Mark Teixeira at day off at first base every once in a while.

Source confirms Yankees "moving in the right direction" for Berkman. Given Cashman's MO, assuming it's essentially a money dump.

Second source says Yankees "likely" to get Berkman.

Astros indeed expected to get non-prospect minor-leaguer(s) and payroll relief from Yankees in return for Berkman.
