The Rangers did make a little noise against Mariano Rivera in the ninth, with a pinch single by Mitch Moreland, putting the potential tying run on first base. Elvis Andrus moved him over with a gutsy two-strike sacrifice bunt.
But then there was a tough at-bat from Michael Young, a struggle that Young lost. He struck out swinging. Then Josh Hamilton grounded out and the Yankees went up in the series 1-0 with a vintage 6-5 win.
