Baltimore sizzling (for a last place team)
Baltimore swept three games from Boston (every Red Sox loss helps, right?) over the weekend and now come to Yankee Stadium for three games. At 5-5 over the last 10, the Orioles (7-18) are a hot last place team. Is that an oxymoron?
Tonight’s starter is Jeremy Gutherie (0-3, 4.70), who was pounded for seven runs last Wednesday against the Yankees. He is now 3-7 lifetime against the Bombers.
The Orioles have to face CC Sabathia (3-1, 3.12), who opposed Gutherie the last time out. It wasn’t vintage CC as he allowed three runs in 11 hits, but his lifetime record is now 10-1 with a 2.62 earned run average.
