Berkman's bat missing clutch
Lance Berkman is hitting .433 for September with 13 hits in 30 at-bats--and one run batted in.
Typical of his game, with the bases loaded in the first inning last night against Tampa Bay, Berkman grounded into an inning-ending double play. Berkman has four RBIs since joining the Yankees from the Astros.
Even a cooled off Marcus Thames, a much bigger long ball threat, seems a better option as the fulltime designated hitter with Jorge Posada filling in on days when he is not catching.
