Not a good night for Brett Gardner.

The leftfielder, one of the few Yankees hitting the ball well of late, went 0-for-4 Sunday night. He was picked off trying to steal against Jon Lester in the fourth inning but most irritating to Gardner was what happened in the second -- when he popped to first on a bunt attempt to try and move Russell Martin over.

"That's a big part of my game," Gardner said. "I do it 100 out of a 100 times in practice but in the games I have to be better at it."

As for the 1-5 homestand, Gardner said perhaps hitting the road will be a good thing.

"Maybe getting on the road, sleeping in a different bed will change our luck," he said. "We need to turn things around."
