Burnett can be reign man
Rain has abbreviated A. J. Burnett’s innings in two of his last three outings. The weather will not be a factor tonight when Burnett starts against the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre, which has a retractable roof.
A victory by Burnett (10-14, 5.05 ERA) will clinch a playoff berth for the Yankees, but it is certainly no lock for the erratic Burnett, who is 0-2 with a 7.27 ERA in four starts against his former team this season.
The Yankees can lose and still make post season if the Red Sox are beaten by the White Sox in Chicago.
Toronto will go with Marc Rzepczynski (2-4,5.75). He is 0-2 in four starts against the Yankees with a 10.47 ERA.
Toronto has won eight of 15 meetings with the Yankees.
