Brian Cashman, on a conference call with beat reporters this afternoon, said he'll meet with Joe Girardi and his coaching staff tomorrow for official roster meetings and planning for the ALCS. But he said his thought going in was that the Yankees will be going with a four-man rotation against either the Rays or Rangers, meaning A.J. Burnett will get a start.

"Our fans should be prepared for us to go with a four-man rotation and A.J. Burnett will be a part of that," Cashman said. "And we’ll be confident in him when he takes the mound if that’s the case."

Burnett's struggles this season, with exception of a couple of months, have been well documented. But he did have two good starts last postseason, a situation Cashman hopes repeats itself.

"I do have confidence in him, I understand he struggled but that was before October," Cashman said. "October can bring out the most competitive side of people... He’d like to eradicate everything that happened in the second half of the season and a terrific start will go a long way toward doing that."
