Nothing has changed on Andy Pettitte. But that doesn't mean nothing happened Wednesday.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman gave an interview Wednesday night from the owners' meetings in Arizona in which he seemed to indicate that Pettitte had decided to sit out the start of the 2011 season.
The Internet started buzzing, and so did Cashman's cell phone. He answered and told various outlets, including Newsday, that he had misspoken.
"Nothing has changed" on Pettitte, he texted Newsday, adding, "poor choice of words by me."
So the Yankees are right where they were a day ago - not waiting for Pettitte to call, not expecting him to pitch in 2011, but willing to listen if he does. Pettitte said last week that he has not decided what he is going to do yet. So there we are.
