Chad Gaudin reportedly set to re-join Yankees

MINNEAPOLIS – A familiar face is likely to be in the Yankees bullpen for Wednesday night’s game at Target Field.

Righthander Chad Gaudin, released by the Yankees at the end of spring training and then released by the A’s May 21, reportedly arrived in Minneapolis Wednesday morning.

In his meeting with reporters Wednesday afternoon before the resumption of Tuesday night's suspended game, manager Joe Girardi would only say there "could" be a move between games.

The A’s signed Gaudin just before the start of the regular season but the 27-year-old didn’t pitch well, going 0-2 with an 8.83 ERA.

Gaudin was acquired by the Yankees last Aug. 6 and was an effective member of the their bullpen, going 2-0 with a 3.43 ERA in 11 appearances (six starts). He started the spring as a dark horse candidate for the fifth-starter job, which eventually went to Phil Hughes, but quickly pitched himself out of consideration and then off the roster.
