Closed case for Rivera
When they talk about the greatest closer of all time, Trevor Hoffman will be sitting there listening. Mariano Rivera will hold the title.
Hoffman got his 600th career save last night in Milwaukee. At nearly 43, he's at the end of his career and has been hanging around to reach that lofty saves number. He has 1,132 career strikeouts in 1,086 1/3 innings. His career earned run average is 2.87.
Rivera, 40, has 555 saves in 16 seasons. He has fanned 1,047 in 1,140 2/3 innings and has a 2.20 ERA.
