Dave Eiland returns to Yankees

Dave Eiland returned to his post as Yankees pitching coach Tuesday after missing close to a month because of personal reasons.

Eiland refused to identify the issue that led him to leave abruptly, saying only that it's "something all of us in life go through."

After thanking the organization for giving him the time he needed to tend to "a private family matter," Eiland said he is confident he will coach the rest of the season without any more absences.

Speaking to reporters more than three hours before Tuesday night's first pitch, Eiland also said he has been able to watch several Yankees games in the past week to 10 days and feels he has seen enough of A.J. Burnett to know what's wrong and how to fix it.  He wouldn't identify the specific problem, saying he hadn't spoken to Burnett yet, but called it "very minor things that are going to make a huge difference."

Eiland is in his third season as Yankees pitching coach.
