Yankees captain Derek Jeter took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge before Tuesday night's game against the Astros at Yankee Stadium.

A seated Jeter was doused with a big bucket of ice water in the team clubhouse by injured pitchers CC Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka.

In a videotaped intro, Jeter paid tribute to another Yankees captain, Lou Gehrig, who died of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), which is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Jeter was nominated for the challenge by a number of people, including Roger Clemens and Yankees executive Jennifer Steinbrenner.

Jeter, in turn, nominated his girlfriend Hannah Davis, plus Michael Jordan and actor Kevin Connolly.
