You wonder if  home field advanatage is worth taking on the Texas Rangers in the first round.

The immediate result of overtaking the Rays in the AL East would be a home game against the Rangers and Cliff Lee, who beat he Yankees twice in the 2009 World Series.

Lee made a successful return from a back injury by shutting down the Yankees to complete a three-game sweep earlier this month in Texas, where the Yanks are 1-3.  The season  series is tied at 4.

Losing out to the Rays in the division would send the Yankees to Minnesota, where the Twins have a great record (52-25) in their new ballpark, but serve up three potential starters  who have not beaten the Yankees.

Francisco Liriano, Carl Pavano (yes, him) and Brian Duensing are 0-6 with a 4.57 ERA vs. the Yankees.

The Yankees won two of three this season at Target Field and are 4-2 overall againt the Twins.

Here''s the bottom line: If the Yankees draw  the Twins and beat them and the Rangers defeat the Rays in their series, the Yanks regain home field in the ALCS
