Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on Wednesday that reliever Pedro Feliciano has a damaged shoulder.

Feliciano backed that up by revealing on Thursday that he has a tear in his shoulder capsule. The next step is a visit to noted surgeon Dr. James Andrews on Monday in Pensacola, Fla.

Feliciano said he'll go with the advice of Andrews, including surgery. If Feliciano does have surgery, he said he would be out for the rest of the season.

He also said that he isn't blaming the injury on his workload while a member of the Mets. Feliciano led the majors in games each of the last three seasons. He made a career-high 92 appearances last season.

Earlier this month, Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Feliciano had been abused by the Mets.
