First place team, middle of the pack pitching
The starting rotation has been a constant topic for the Yankees. They have the probable Cy Young Award winner in CC Sabathia, who goes for his 20th victory tomorrow night, and then a list of question marks.
The maligned starting staff ranks seventh out of 14 teams in the league with an earned run average of 4.14--slightly behind the Red Sox and slightly ahead of the Angels. Both of those teams are out of contention.
Oakland's staff has the lowest ERA at 3.45. And what does that do for the A's? They are eight games behind Texas in the AL West.
