Freeport's Vinas has strong spring
Freeport's Leonel Vinas, who played last summer for the Long Island-based baseball amateur team sponsored by Hank Steinbrenner prior to signing a minor-league deal with the Yankees last December, finished his spring training this afternoon with five hitless innings against a Pirates' minor-league squad. Vinas, 19, is slated to pitch for the Yankees' rookie league team in Tampa this summer.
