Girardi: Once Posada is 100 percent, Yankees might add a bat

When Jorge Posada can get through a game without feeling any discomfort in his right foot, that likely will be the end of the Yankees carrying two backup catchers.
But "until he can get through a game without [feeling it], I think we have to be careful with that," Joe Girardi said.
That means Chad Moeller, who has started only two games since Posada returned from the DL June 2, stays on the 25-man roster for now. When Posada, the designated hitter Friday night, is considered 100 percent, Girardi said the Yankees will rotate the DH spot and "add another bat."
Girardi said, "I believe that our organization has people that can help us." But he didn't commit to that added bat being Juan Miranda, or someone outside the organization.
"I don't want to speculate on that before Brian [Cashman] and I make a decision," Girardi said.
Culver signs
The Yankees announced the signing of shortstop Cito Culver, their first-round draft pick out of Irondequoit High School in Rochester. Culver, 17, who received a $954,000 signing bonus, graduates this weekend and is expected to be in Tampa, Fla., on Monday with the GCL Yankees.
Joba letdown
Joba Chamberlain had given up one run in 62/3 innings in his previous seven outings before being charged with three runs in the Phillies' four-run ninth Thursday. "I didn't do my job," he said. "If I do my job, I don't have to give the ball to [Damaso] Marte and we get out of the inning."
