If Joe Girardi is inclined to change his mind about using A.J. Burnett or skipping him in favor of CC Sabathia in Game 4, he wasn't saying. "I just got off the field five minutes ago. I'm worried about Game 3. If we start worrying about Game 4 before we play Game 3, we're in trouble," the manager said.

Asked specifically about Sabathia and Burnett, he said, "Right now, we're on rotation."

But as pitching coach Dave Eiland said the other night, nothing is etched in stone.

As for the mediocre starting pitching so far, Girardi said, "Our starters have not pitched well so far. Our starters pitched extremely well and everyone was giddy about them last series. I don't get caught up in snapshot pictures."

Of course, the picture right now isn't as rosy as it was late last night. Talk about giddy. Girardi faced questions about Cliff Lee, who will pitch Game 3 for the Rangers. He said, "I think the one who's getting forgotten in this is Andy Pettitte, and he's pretty good."
